The Minister of Tourism, Irena Georgieva, held a meeting with nationally represented employer organizations and industry structures in tourism, at which the specific challenges facing the sector in connection with the conflict in the Middle East and possible short-term solutions were discussed.
Representatives of the Bulgarian industrial Capirtal Association, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian Industrial Chamber and the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria participated in the meeting. They emphasized the increasing costs of energy, fuels and services, as well as the difficulties in fulfilling already undertaken commitments in the changed geopolitical and economic environment. According to them, this creates pressure on the competitiveness of the sector on the eve of the summer season.
Minister Georgieva emphasized that the Ministry maintains an active dialogue with the industry and seeks working solutions within the framework of national and European instruments. "We are looking for solutions that can be implemented in a short time and have a real effect for both business and consumers. It is important that actions are coordinated and aimed at maintaining stability in the sector," she said.
The possibilities for stimulating domestic tourism and using vouchers as a form of compensation for unfulfilled trips were discussed.
Employers' organizations united around the need for measures to stimulate demand through active advertising and to optimize costs in order to maintain the sustainability of the business.
