The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) will present the "Business to the Rules" awards for 2024 at an official ceremony on March 27 at Sofia's Balkan Palace Hotel. Among the guests of the event, which will start at 6:00 p.m., will be representatives of the executive and legislative branches, business, non-governmental organizations, social partners, and the media. The goal of the annual and already popular competition is to highlight stimulating examples of success in the fight against the informal economy and to honor leading institutions and individuals with an active position and contribution to limiting the shadow economy. The awards are part of the overall activity of BICA to increase public intolerance towards the shadow economy, encourage active actions in this direction, and promote the constructive role of business in society in improving the socio-economic environment. For the twelfth consecutive year, the "Business to the Rules" award will be presented in three categories:
• For a person or organization that has contributed to the limitation and prevention of the informal economy through an active position;
• For a journalist or media outlet that has contributed to changing public attitudes towards the informal economy;
• For a regulatory act or administrative practice that leads to limiting the shadow economy and improving the business environment.
The nominations for the awards were made through a broad public consultation among the members of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria, all social partners, members of the Public Council for the Limitation and Prevention of the Informal Economy and Undeclared Employment, which includes representatives of a number of state institutions, and the media. The winners will be selected through secret voting by a large expert jury, which is composed of 100 prominent individuals: prominent economists, public figures, media representatives, members of the National and Control Councils of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, of the Public Council for the Limitation and Prevention of the Informal Economy and Undeclared Employment, etc.
