AOBE declares its categorical support for the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the eurozone from January 1, 2026

TO
MR. RUMEN RADEV, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA

MRS. NATALIA KISELOVA,
CHAIRMAN OF THE 51ST NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA

MR. ROSEN ZHELYAZKOV,
PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA

DEAR MR. PRESIDENT,
DEAR MADAM CHAIRMAN, DEAR MR. PRIME MINISTER,

We, the nationally representative employers' organizations, with economic activities across the entire spectrum of economic life in our country, creating over 86% of the gross added value through 82% of all employees, concerned by the announcements of a referendum, declare our categorical support for the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the eurozone from January 1, 2026. We recall that Bulgaria unreservedly and consistently makes efforts towards full membership in the European Union - both with the stated Negotiating Position and the Additional Information to it under Chapter 11 "Economic and Monetary Union" from 2001, the Pre-Accession Economic Programs for the periods 2002-2005 and 2004-2007, and by reaffirming the commitment to the future adoption of the single European currency with the Accession Treaty, in force from January 1, 2007. The completion of the process of Bulgaria's European integration, through our full membership in the Economic and Monetary Union, will guarantee accelerated income growth and faster real convergence in purchasing power towards average European values. Throughout this time, all of you, institutionally responsible for the governance and prosperity of our country, have repeatedly stated your convinced support for the European perspective of our country, including the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria and the related Law on the Introduction of the Euro, adopted by the 50th National Assembly on August 7, 2024. and promulgated in the State Gazette by Decree No. 200 of the President of the Republic. We are convinced that in continuation of the consistent and consolidated efforts of all previous leaders, Bulgarian institutions, social partners and the non-governmental sector, in anticipation of the convergence reports of the European Central Bank and the European Commission on our admission to the eurozone, you will continue to be at the level of high national expectations, taking into account national priorities, and we will work together committedly for the benefit of the prosperity of our society, preventing actions that dissipate public energy and create prerequisites for contradictions, division, tension and distrust among the Bulgarian people.

RESPECTFULLY,

RUMEN RADEV,
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BULGARIAN INDUSTRIAL CAPITAL ASSOCIATION AND ROTATING CHAIRMAN OF THE AOBE FOR 2025, BY ORDER OF THE AOBEMEMBER INSTITUTIONS BICA, BIA, BCCI AND CEIBG
