The roadmap for improving the pension system will be presented to social partners. This commitment was made by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Hasan Ademov at a meeting with representatives of all nationally representative trade union and employer organizations. Deputy Ministers Natalia Efremova and Rumyana Petkova also participated in it.
Minister Ademov recalled that the National Assembly assigned the development of a Roadmap for improving the pension system to several institutions, including the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP), the Ministry of Finance, the National Revenue Agency and others. "The MLSP is ready with the measures we want to implement. We are awaiting the opinions of the other institutions," explained Ademov. The Social Minister added that these proposals are based on the analyses of the Economic and Social Council, the National Social Security Institute and the experts from the ministry. He was categorical that in order to adopt the Roadmap in question, a broad public consensus is needed and therefore we must work closely with the social partners. "Our ambition is to leave a finalized version of the Roadmap to the next regular cabinet. My desire is to complete the task. Not for me, not for you, but for the citizens," added Ademov.
The team at the MLSP and the social partners also agreed to intensify the work on the mechanism for setting the minimum wage , as well as on the transposition of the directive on equal pay for women and men. Before the unions and employers, Minister Ademov also presented the main focuses of the work of the Social Ministry during the term of the caretaker cabinet - the holding of fair and free elections and support for vulnerable citizens. Active work is also underway on the adoption of a working Regulation on Energy Poverty. It should create a sustainable mechanism for assisting people who need support. This is becoming especially urgent in the conditions of rising prices for electricity, water and basic food products.
