Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova participated in a discussion on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria at the Academy of Economics in Svishtov


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova, Secretary General of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria and Deputy Chairman of the Economic and Social Council (ESC), took part in a discussion dedicated to the steps towards the future adoption of the euro in Bulgaria. The event was held at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov and was part of the National Information Campaign for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.

The focus of the discussion was on the need for a secure, transparent and fair transition to the single European currency. It was emphasized that the process of introducing the euro is not only economic, but also strategic - of important importance for the long-term financial stability and European integration of Bulgaria.

During the forum, the expected benefits of the country's membership in the eurozone were presented. Among them are the elimination of currency risk, reduction of costs for currency transactions, easier comparison of prices within the European Union, as well as increased competitiveness. The participants also discussed the prospects for lower interest rates, improved access to financial resources, raising the country's credit rating and strengthening investor confidence.

Special attention was paid to the opportunities for better integration of Bulgarian industry into European value chains, including in strategic sectors such as automotive, mechanical engineering and information technology.

The discussion on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria took place on the opening day of the new academic year at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics. During the event, Associate Professor Angelova congratulated the management, lecturers and students, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the academic community and social partners on strategic topics such as membership in the euro area.

BICA actively participated in the preparation and implementation of the information campaign for the introduction of the euro, encouraging an open dialogue with business and society. The aim is to address the issues and concerns related to the transition to the new currency by ensuring full information transparency and public trust.
