National protest against the uncompetitive price of electricity for businesses - 15.01.2025

The situation of the Bulgarian industry is dramatic and threatens to sink the national economy. Only urgent and timely measures by the authorities can mitigate the consequences.
Driven by their goals to protect the interests of the Bulgarian economy and the working people, the social partners of the Republic of Bulgaria, concerned by the lack of clarity on the main economic indicators for the coming year, insist on an immediate decision by the authorities to continue compensating for the extremely high prices of electricity throughout the calendar year 2025.
If this is not done, on January 15, 2025, we will rise up to

A national protest against the uncompetitive price of electricity for enterprises, because:

•    The current levels of electricity prices for NON-household consumers are unaffordable for most enterprises. They are twice as high as the prices for households in our country and the prices paid by our competitors!

•    Without compensation, over 600 thousand non-household subscribers are subject to price shock - not only large and medium-sized industrial enterprises, but also small businesses. These include hospitals, water and sanitation companies, theaters, museums and other cultural institutions, state and municipal departments and enterprises, and other consumers.
•    This leads to the insolvency of enterprises, threatens not only the growth of wages and their regular payment, but also the jobs themselves. It leads to inflation and impoverishment.
•    Since January 1, 2025, no measures have been taken to compensate enterprises so that all this does not happen.

What are we demanding?
•    We insist on compensation for the OVERCOST for each NON-household consumer of electricity, which will at least bring the price of electricity for industry closer to that of the regulated market. For the period from January 2025 until the month when the price normalizes.
•    Compensation must be immediate!
•    Compensation must be adequate and fair.
•    Compensation must be for everyone.
•    We want additional measures to limit the damage to the Bulgarian economy from the surge in electricity prices and other energy carriers.

The protest is not political!
