IN SOFIA 2025: EUROPE'S NEW INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY AND BULGARIA'S PLACE

The international conference iN Sofia 2025, which will be held on October 31 in Sofia, Hilton Hotel, will bring together key European and Bulgarian institutions, business leaders and politicians to formulate the new framework for a competitive and decarbonized European industry, with Bulgaria’s active role.

With its Clean Industrial Deal, presented in 2024, the European Union is trying to unleash the industrial transformation of the Old Continent and effectively puts Bulgaria before a choice: to become an active participant or to remain a spectator. At a time when technological and energy pressure is intensifying, the question is no longer “will we change”, but “how and with whom will we do it”.

The iN Sofia 2025 event comes at a timely moment, bringing together people who are actually making decisions. Confirmed participants include:

Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation;

  • Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth;
  • Zhecho Stankov, Minister of Energy;
  • Bulgarian representatives in the European Parliament – Tsvetelina Penkova (S&D), and Radan Kanev (EPP);
  • European Commission representatives – Jan Dusik, Deputy Head of Unit in DG CLIMA, and Tatiana Lopez Garrido, Acting Deputy Head of Unit in DG GROW;
  • Martin Danovski, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, and Doncho Barbalov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, together with technology entrepreneurs and industrial leaders from Bulgaria.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Angelova, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee and Secretary General of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA)
  • Angelin Tsachev, Executive Director of the Electricity System Operator (ESO);
  • Raycho Raychev, CEO and founder of EnduroSat;
  • Dobroslav Dimitrov, technology entrepreneur, member of the Advisory Boards of BRIGHT and BASCOM;
  • Ognyan Trayanov, owner and CEO of TechnoLogica.

When and where?

The event will be held on October 31, 2025 at the Hilton Hotel, Sofia, with four panels focused on energy sovereignty, green transformation, access to raw materials and European funds for industry. Representatives of European and Bulgarian institutions, business entrepreneurs and experts will participate.

What to expect?

Practical answers to key questions: How can Bulgaria use regulations as a competitive advantage? How can business modernize to gain access to financing and be prepared for changes?
Meetings with visionaries: International and Bulgarian leaders who are already building the "new industry" and positioning Bulgaria not as a catch-up, but as a shaping factor on the European economic map.
Networking and participation in the big conversation: not only to listen, but to influence the decisions that are coming.
“At Economic.bg, we believe that the time when Bulgaria was a mere observer and only followed the trends is over. Now, on the threshold of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the country has a chance to build its own technological and energy sovereignty. iN Sofia 2025 will be a place where Bulgaria’s new industrial strategy will be outlined,” commented Georgi Zhelyazkov, editor-in-chief.
