The Association of Bulgarian Employers' Organizations (AOBE) held a working meeting with Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov and his Chief of Staff Rumyana Bachvarova.
On behalf of the AOBE, the following participated in the meeting: Rumen Radev - Chairman of the Board of the BICA, Daneta Zheleva - Deputy Chairman of the Board of the BICA, Dobri Mitrev - Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Industrial Association and rotating Chairman of the AOBE for 2026, Stanislav Popdonchev - Deputy Chairman of the BIA, Vasil Todorov - Deputy Chairman of the BCCI, Martin Yanev - Member of the Board of the BCCI and Chairman of the Council of Branch Organizations at the BCCI, and Boyan Mitrakiev - Executive Director and Member of the Board of the BCCI.
During the meeting, current problems of the business environment were discussed. Representatives of the AOBE presented the priorities of the employers' organizations for 2026 to the Prime Minister. During the conversation, the challenges resulting from the conflict in the Middle East and the situation with fuel prices worldwide were discussed. Another focus of the meeting was Bulgaria's membership in Schengen and the Eurozone and the necessary steps so that our country can feel the maximum positive effects of this serious advantage.
"The government's measures in response to the increase in fuel prices are extremely focused and do not affect the principles of the market economy. The main thing for us is to help where there is a need - purposefully and measuredly, in a way that is responsible for the state budget," said Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov during the meeting. He also emphasized another strategic priority for Bulgaria - joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. A few days ago, the Prime Minister personally spoke with OECD Secretary General Matthias Kormann in Paris on the topic. The tasks are also clear, and if they are completed within the current year, Bulgaria will receive an official invitation to join the Organization.
