BICA: The introduction of the euro is a strategic step that will bring over 1 billion leva in benefits annually to Bulgarian businesses.

Joining the eurozone will boost competitiveness and open up access to more profitable financing. Bulgarian businesses will save significant currency conversion costs, reduce the risk of international transactions, have access to cheaper financing and operate in a more transparent and predictable economic environment. The expected effect for the national economy from the elimination of transaction costs exceeds 1 billion leva per year - a resource that can be directed towards investments, innovations and the creation of new jobs. This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarina Industrial Capital Association, Rumen Radev, at the first of a series of information meetings of the National Information Campaign for the Introduction of the Euro. It was held in Burgas and brought together representatives of institutions, local authorities, businesses and citizens. The campaign aims to provide businesses and society with clear and reliable information about the key stages and deadlines for the introduction of the euro. Leading institutions – the Ministry of Finance, the Bulgarian National Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Consumer Protection Commission, the National Revenue Agency, the Financial Supervision Commission, the National Social Insurance Institute, etc. – are participating with their experts, who will be available for questions and discussions.
Partners in the initiative are the Economic and Social Council, the National Association of Municipalities, employers' and trade union organizations, the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, etc.
The next information meetings of the campaign will be held on:
• September 3 (Wednesday) at 10:00 a.m. in the P.R. Slaveykov conference hall, Stara Zagora municipality;
